Palin Drops Puck @ Flyers Opener; Flashlight Night Postponed.

I’m sitting here at my computer and for once I’m lost for words. I keep trying to materialize thoughts to try and even begin to comprehend the decision making process behind having Sarah Palin drop the puck at the Philadelphia Flyers opener this Saturday, and how anyone who’s ever been to a Philadelphia sporting event, could possibly think that was a good idea. Surely someone on the McCain / Palin support team is a Philly fan, right? I mean, in the vast network of associates and whoevers, there has to be one. Where is that person and why isn’t he or she screaming “NOOOOOO!”

For those who can’t immediately imagine the almost certain heckling that will befall Sarah Palin after she steps half a foot onto the ice, let me give you some back story.

Do you see this? Look! Right there, just to the left of this typing! That is what a Philly fan looks like when he’s not slinging eggs, batteries, or ice balls at things he doesn’t like. That’s right folks! Just last weekend, fans at the Eagles game threw a hailstorm of eggs and other garbage at the Redskins team bus as it pulled into the stadium. Classy, right?

I live in Philly sports country. I am a die hard New York Giants fan. I would NEVER wear my team colors outside the confines of my home without bringing a lot of people to protect me from a beating. To make it a little clearer, just the other day I was at a private Obama campaign stategy event and I casually mentioned that I was excited to watch the Giants on Sunday. Oh my, this seventy year old woman turned around, gave me the most scorned look and essential told me where I could stick it. This is a testament to just how classy Philly fans are.

Its hard for me to even put to words, it really is, how terrible an idea having Sarah Palin attend an event filled with drunken, enraged Flyers fans truly is. To further drive home this point, imagine a crowd that would boo and throw ice balls at Santa Clause. Imagine a crowd that would take apart the flashlights distributed to them, take out the D-Batteries inside, and throw them at opposing players. Imagine a fan base so legendarily ignorant and barbaric that would make the Taliban run away in fear and you sir, would be imagining Philly fans.

Ok, I understand that 40% of people NATIONWIDE like Sarah Palin, but look at the demographics folks. This is Philly, and last time I checked, an Obama stronghold. I mean, I’m pretty sure they won’t hurt her physically, but the boos and jeers and resulting press coverage will be so humiliating that Tina Fey will be out of a job.

I’m a Devils fan, having grown up in the New York part of New Jersey, so naturally I hate all things Flyers. I am really considering buying a ticket to this event just to witness it first hand. You think I’m making this up? You think these people are tamer than I lead to believe. You, sir, are an idiot. They are an organized militia of hate, who jump at the chance to break and destroy anything that comes in their paths. Add to this, the Flyers are playing the New York Rangers! If you are not a hockey fan, then you don’t understand how volatile this situation already is. Even without the Palin bonus, undoubtedly there will be fights. Undoubtedly there will be arrests. Undoubtedly lives will be irreparably damaged. This is a city that has a court room under its football stadium.

There are bad ideas, and then there is this. Just look around the Internet, the “boo-birds” are already organizing. They’re organized people! They take pride in their rowdiness, trust me, I know them. I can’t believe that there is one person in this surrounding area who thinks this is a good idea. Seriously. There’s dumb and then there’s McCain.

This is no force to be messed with!

P.S. Go Giants, Eagles SUCK!

  3. First, fuck the Giants. And fuck that dumb cunt Sarah Palin. The Flyers owner is an idiot, can’t do anything about it. No title in 33 years, what’s that tell you about Ed Snider. No problem though, Phillies will win the world series. Republicans are shit. Fuck everybody hating on Philly. Go Phillies!

I hope they boo her back to Alaska, where she can enjoy the view of Russa.
