Why do Republicans hate Americans so much?

It’s often occurred to me and I think it’s an honest, and well deserved, question. Of course, I realize that trying to analyze ‘conservative’ social philosophy in terms of logic and reason is, well, often more useful for treating narcolepsy than promoting intellectual or political discovery, but the simultaneous embodiment of epic disdain for our own oppressed and compassionate love for the oppressed of others is really… confusing. OK, confusing is too generous since it would suggest some sort of explainable phenomena, it’s just down right illogical to me.

Take for instance the idea of giving to your church missionaries who are “improving” the lives of poor kids in the Dominican Republic, India, or any other 3rd world nation. Why not give it to aid workers who are helping the poor kids in the 3rd world areas of our nation? Sure, some might argue that the REAL point of the mission trips is to spread god’s love, and hence, yet ever disgustingly, the actual improvements for the kids, the ones that actually make their lives observably better, are just a means to that end, but last time I turned on conservative media, there are heathen running rampant all over this country, God’s country I might add. There must be poor heathen too, why not spread god’s love, in the form of housing, food, education to them? How can an ideology support this sort of giving and scoff at the thought of paying a little more in taxes for universal insurance programs aimed at a welfare mother who can’t afford to take a minimum wage job, not because she doesn’t want to work, but because her family would lose their insurance since we don’t require minimum wage part time jobs to offer benefits.

I get it when an asshole is an asshole, but why only be an asshole to Americans? Lemme hear it.

Although I don’t think most ’stars’ are Republican, here’s a great example: CNN

  2. Mikey gets it right. As Thom Hartmann has often stated, the pervading view of conservatism is based on the Calvinist view of ’success follows blessing’ bible preaching standard that has been ingrained into the common American psyche in the last 200 years. This standard of self reliance has reared it’s head in the past many times, because the white bred suburban mind says the blight that remains in urban America is a result of the poor being poorly managed by our Government and also due to their “lack of faith”.
With the millions of jobs these suburban people have lost recently however, even these RNC types are panicking for more relief money for their unemployed Republican constituents! What hypocrites.
