Pirate Battle of Attrition: Pittsburgh vs Somalia

First, let me make a slight disclaimer about this; I by no means wish to make light of the individual situations of the various parties involved. With that said, I’ve been wondering, which band of pirates’ season will be over first, Pittsburgh or Somalia? It’s an interesting proposition, take a look at the similarities.

1) Both groups consist of over-matched, under-prepared castaways.
2) Organizational objectives are ambiguous.
3) Opponent resources are seemingly limitless.
4) Initial forays have exceeded public expectations.

While we expect both conflicts to be over by mid-May, even with the military of the world facing down the Pirates of Somalia, we think they’ll last a little longer than the Pirates of Pittsburgh. Here’s a few things that could prove to be the difference maker:

1) The Pirates of Pittsburgh enjoy what many consider to be one of the nicest homes in all the land. The Pirates of Somalia enjoy living the movie ‘Black Hawk Down’ on a daily basis.

2) The government agency overseeing The Pirates of Pittsburgh has created a market environment where pirates may shamelessly fail at their jobs, yet the owners and pirates still make tidy profits. On the other hand, the Pirates of Somalia have nothing insuring their incomes in the face of failure.
